3D-printers continue to make its way into everyday life, of course, starting with the areas where they are unique as an instrument, or their application actually saves money and time. One such area is the medicine – right here waiting for a large three-dimensional printers “career ladder”, the first stage of which they overcome today.

An excellent proof of that was today’s news about the successful creation and implanting the jaw for 83-year-old woman. She – the world’s first patient, who received a titanium jaw, produced by the method developed by BIOMED Research Institute, located in the University of Hasselt (Belgium).
The method involves condensation of titanium dust by means of a laser controlled by a computer. The technique was first applied in this perspective, allowed to return the patient to almost full to eat and speak the next day after surgery, despite the fact that the final product weighs a little more of this “precursor”.
