LaCie (Storage company) has unveiled its $189 500GB “Golden Disk”, designed by Ora-Ïto and available in late October.
Aside from the funky wavy casing, the drive features a USB 2.0 connection, 7200 RPM spindle speed, 8MB cache, sub-11 milli-second seek time and a “1 Click” backup option.
Similarly configured external drives are available in the low to mid $100 range on Amazon.com so you`d be paying a little extra to impress your friends, shallow or otherwise.
