Multicore CPUs stop computer viruses

We’ll know of the potential power of multicore CPUs in computers (as to whether they are being taken advantage of by programmers, that is another can of worms), but what happens when these multicores appear in cars, cellphones, and HD TV players? NEC has a new technique that enables software to run in separate processors on each core, allowing the device to stop a virus before it has the chance to replicate itself, spreading through other Internet-connected devices. This technology has not been named yet, but should it actually work as intended, it would go a long way in preventing wanton spread of destructive viruses in the near future. Hopefully the day comes sooner rather than later.
