YouTube “Person Finder” Launched for Victims of Japan’s Earthquake and Tsunami

11th March 2011 Proved to be a horrible day in the history of Japan as on this disastrous day a ferocious tsunami and earthquake occurred. After this destructive natural calamity helping hands were stretched towards japan from all over the world. YouTube also made and attempt via Person Finder through which missing people can find their near and dear ones.

Tai Hasagawa, Product Marketing Manager at YouTube, announced the YouTube Person Finder on the YouTube blog.
“Our hope is that this channel will help victims and their families to establish each other’s safety, and that the video messages will reach many viewers and motivate them to contribute to the recovery and restoration of the disaster-stricken areas.”


As of Now the YouTube Person Finder has few dozen videos which are taken by Japanese Station TBS at shelters. In the near term individuals will be able to upload their own video messages or they can also search their loved ones by name, hometown or shelter. YouTube Person Finder is very user friendly and simple creation as Google’s Person Finder.
